When sourcing timber, be sure to check the credentials of prospective suppliers and look (or ask for, where necessary) FSC and PEFC accreditation to ensure that your timber has been responsibly grown and sourced.

All three window materials offer varying degrees of design features and customisation. uPVC is widespread and available in various colours and finishes, but it is only suitable for some properties. It can even detract from the aesthetic appeal of conservation areas. Aluminium frames have experienced a steep rise in popularity due to their sleek, modern style – but because of this, they are usually best suited to new or contemporary homes. Timber lends itself to any project and has been shown in surveys to significantly enhance curb appeal, especially if it is part of (or in the style of) original features. It is also the most versatile material available in terms of style, with the option to introduce many more bespoke elements and design custom creations, as well as the vast range of paints, stains and varnishes available.
